Trading Partners
& Regions

The U.S. has more free trade partners in the Americas than in any other region of the world. In broader economic and commercial terms, the Americas region is situated for significant growth in the years to come and provides a substantial opportunity for U.S. trade, specifically U.S. exports. In recognition of this, ANSI is very active in activities related to standards and conformance in the Americas region.

Regionally, ANSI is the U.S. representative to the Pan American Standards Commission (COPANT), and frequently brings delegations of ANSI members to COPANT meetings, affording valuable opportunities to interact with all 27 member standards organizations at once.

ANSI holds three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with countries in the Americas region, including the Associacao Brasileira de Norms Tecnias (ABNT), Brazil, the Bolivian Institute of Standardization and Quality (IBNORCA), Bolivia, and the Comisión Guatemalteca de Normas (COGUANOR), Guatemala. MoUs reaffirm ANSI commitment to advance cooperation on standards and conformity assessment related activities and objectives with the partner country.
